(STN-MUQDISHO): – The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hassan Ali Khaire has on Sunday carried out a mini-reshuffle of his cabinet as he left the country for an official visit to Sudan.
The minister of Information, Dahir Mohamud Geelle has announced the official statement from the PM’s office through the state media, saying the move is aimed at filling up vacant positions in the cabinet.
Abdullahi Godah Barre was appointed as the new Minister of Education, replacing Abdirahman Dahir Osman, who has been sacked last Month following a fall-out with the premier.
Barre became Minister of Interior in the last Somali Government led by former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. He is currently a member of the Lower House Chamber of the country’s Federal Parliament.

2 – Sheikh Nur Ali Hassan – Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowment,
3 – Abdulkadir Bagdadi – State Minister for Presidency,
4 – Abdullahi Bidhan Warsame – Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources,
5 – Shawaqar Ibrahim Abdalla – Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs.
According to the statement seen by Garowe Online, new ministers have been ordered to take over their offices immediately.
The reasons behind the ministers’ dismissal and appointment have not been specified, however, the development comes after the Premier, who is in office in less than two years fired several ministers.
PM Khaire’s government is struggling to contain a deadly insurgency by the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabab which poses the biggest threat to the security of Somalia and neighbouring countries.
