After a virtual meeting on Sunday 27 December 28, 2020 President of the Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ) and the Executive Committee have admitted with deep regret the resignation of the Secretary General of the Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ) Mr Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu who was appointed as the Spokesperson of the Federal Government of Somalia & Senior Media Adviser to the Prime Minister.
“We are really sorry that you have decided to leave your leadership role as FESOJ General Secretary, but we can only respect your will and wish you the best in your next endeavor. We would also like to thank you for your efforts while you were with Federation of Somali journalists” FESOJ President Abadir Abdulkadir Elmi said.
FESOJ leadership will soon convene an extraordinary session to elect a new Secretary General in accordance with the FESOJ Constitution
“Moalimuu was a dedicated leader who spent a lot of time in activism, especially in the defense of journalists, freedom of the press in the past years and Somali journalists will remember him for his stand against abuses against Somali journalists across the country and the capacity building for Somali journalists”. President Abadir added.
Speaking at the meeting, Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu made the following remarks.
“I would like to express my gratitude for understanding my position and accepting my resignation from the post of the Secretary General of Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ).
I would also like to take this opportunity to record my heartfelt gratitude towards FESOJ Executive Committee and President, and the entire FESOJ members and journalist colleagues, throughout Somalia. I can never forget the unwavering support I always received from you and everybody else in Somali media.
I will always remember my days at FESOJ with a lot of warmth and nostalgia.
I wish you, members of the Federation and all Somali journalists, all the very best for the future” Moalimuu said.
