Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud congratulated the cabinet member designate in a welcoming meeting at Villa Somalia on Tuesday night.
He commended Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre for “choosing a quality government” that would satisfy the expectations of the Somali people.
“The Somali people expect you to serve them honestly and work to solve their problems. You must exercise responsibility, togetherness, and keep in mind the oath and responsibility.”
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud urged the Cabinet to focus on ensuring security, drought relief, reconciliation and completing the constitution review while improving governance and infrastructure for the Somali people. Mohamud added that his government would work to strengthen Somalia’s diplomatic relations with the world.
He asked the federal parliament to approve the newly-appointed Council of Ministers so they could promptly begin their work.
After lengthy consultations, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre unveiled his Council of Ministers on Tuesday, which comprises 26 cabinet ministers, 25 deputies, and 24 state ministers.
