According to military officials, an operation by Danab Special Forces of the Somali National Army has killed 24 members of Al-Shabaab.
The operation took place in Gamboole, 48km from Jowhar district, an important area for the militant group.
A government spokesman said the operation was aimed at thwarting Al-Shabaab insurgents. He said ensuring security is a priority for the country’s armed forces.
The operation also reportedly seized weapons and other military equipment belonging to al-Shabaab.
