Somalia President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo on Sunday held a surprise meeting with his President of Jubbaland Ahmed Madoobe at the Galmudug State House, in public for the first time since Jubbaland disputed elections, with the pair attempting to solve their political differences.
The meeting between the two sides came after hours of efforts involving Somalia’s Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre and the President of Galmudug to at least create an atmosphere of understanding during the expected meeting between the leaders of Federal Government of Somalia and leaders of Federal Member States in Dhusamareb.
t is unknown what the outcome of the closed-door meeting between the two leaders will be, butit is expected it could lead to the two sides agreeing to openly participate in the meeting to find a solution to the political standoff.
Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has reached on Saturday in Dhusamreb town of Galmudug to attend the meeting between FGS and FMS. The Somali Prime Minster and other senior members from the Federal government were already there to pave the way the political dailogue to start with a good mood.
Puntland State of Somalia President Said Abdullahi Deni, who is himself politically far from President Farmajo, is expected to return to Dhusamareb after his attending the funeral of former Prime Minister Hassan Abshir Farah in Garowe.
Other reports obtained by Somali Top News say that Mogadishu Mayor Omar Flish and a delegation led by him will travel to Dhusamareb on Monday to attend the meeting.
The conference will focus on a range of issues revolving around the country’s security and political processes and other key substantive issues for Somalia’s state-building endeavours, including holding the forthcoming elections.
